Rysia Murphy of Arisohn + Murphy and Tess De Paula are pleased to present Day Marks, a pop-up exhibition featuring works from twelve contemporary artists that highlight the concept - and relativity - of time. These artists uniquely navigate themes of memory, impermanence, daily routine and how we mark the passing of time during an era of global uncertainty. Artworks span from intimate textiles and hand-carved sculptures to wall-spanning canvases.
Many works were made during COVID when artists’ time was upended by their personal situations - the loss or pausing of work and opportunities, inability to access studio space and art supplies, and the existential grappling of what a global pandemic meant to each individual. More broadly, each artwork illustrates the unique way in which an artwork can mark and reflect time and each artist’s personal relationship to time.
The gallery will donate a portion of commissions to Women for Afghan Women.
Thank you to MOtiVE Brooklyn for generously opening their doors for this show.
